Reduce Swelling & Edema

There are extensive studies on the ability of intermittent pneumatic compression to decrease fluid retention, particularly in the legs.

Improve Muscle Recovery & Soreness

Pursue faster recovery times from training or daily fatigue via increased blood flow and lymphatic activity- flushing out inflammation and lactic acid while increasing oxygen delivery to tissues for enhanced muscle repair.

How It Works

Compression boots utilize a device with inflatable chambers that deliver dynamic, sequential pressure to the legs, mimicking the body’s natural muscle pump to enhance blood flow and lymphatic drainage. Operating with customizable pressure settings up to 230 mmHg and multiple compression zones, the system targets the feet, calves, knees, and thighs to boost circulation, clear metabolic waste like lactic acid, and reduce swelling, promoting faster muscle recovery and reduced soreness in a simple, non-invasive way.

Frequently asked questions

Who are compression boots made for?

In short, compression boots are made for people with fatigue, swelling, or pain in the legs on a somewhat regular basis. Maybe you're an athlete pumping out hard leg days in the gym, training for a 10k, or tackling a long trail race. Maybe you're in a situation that prevents you from using your legs much at all and they've become tight and weak or the opposite and you are standing on concrete for long hours. Compression boots have even been proven to positively effect some side effects of medical conditions, such as lymphedema. Compression boots are a tool that can help the body circulate blood through the lower extremity.

Who should avoid compression boots?

Compression boots are contraindicated for people with confirmed or suspected deep vein thrombosis. Those with severe peripheral artery disease, active infection, open wounds, uncontrolled congestive heart failure, untreated lymphedema, or other known or suspected blood clots should avoid intermittent pneumatic compression. Severe neuropathy, either from diabetes or any other medical condition, can impede the brain's ability to sense harmful pressures so compression may not be the best modality.

How do they work?

Please understand that not all compression boot systems are equal, they're not. Almost all of the research that's out there is centered around boots that conduct true intermittent pneumatic compression in a sequential manner. This means isolating and squeezing the most distal chamber first, then moving methodically up the leg as blood is shuttled towards the body's core. Cheap systems that cut the corners of this technology are not likely to make a difference, and that difference is often felt by the user immediately.

What brand of boots do you use?

We tested a lot of different boot systems on the market and brought in what was to us the runaway winner in virtually all aspects. Rapid Reboot is a company that's held true to the research and therefore can manage symptoms for those with swelling, but at its core this is a company made by athletes, for athletes. The Rapid Reboot system delivers more power and faster cycles than most products on the market, and has an incredibly easy touch screen interface that makes customizing your session simple.

How should I prepare/arrive for a session?

Please arrive clean and dry. The inside of the boot system is cleaned between each client but body lotions and salves can put a faster wear on the inner linings. Shorts or sweatpants should be opted for if possible; depending on the pressure settings you select, the seams and folds that can be created by jeans and heavier materials can become uncomfortable and affect your ability to relax.

Are there side-effects to compression boot usage?

The most common side effect is discomfort or pain when the pressure settings are too high. Our system is easy to toggle mid-session if the settings become uncomfortable. Skin irritation can occur if the boots do not fit properly. Temporary numbness or tingling in the legs can occur due to the compression of nerves throughout the session (again, typically a result of not listening to the body's calls for less pressure).

Where are your compression boots located?

Our compression boot system is currently located in our waiting room. This is a public space with considerable amounts of foot traffic from other clients and employees. Please understand this is not a closed-door, private session. You are more than welcome to bring a book to read or headphones to block out any noise.
